About Friends of the White Salmon
The mission of Friends of the White Salmon River is to protect the river and its watershed, and to restore naturally reproducing anadromous fish populations. This has largely been achieved through education and advocacy but also through financial support of critical causes and recreation.
Yakama Tract D Closed Due to Williams Mine Fire
Due to the Williams Mine fire on the southwestern side of Mt. Adams, the Yakama Tract D on the southeastern side of Mt. Adams is now CLOSED to recreational use until further notice.
Restoring Wild Salmon & Steelhead
Wild salmon and steelhead are returning to the White Salmon River following the removal of Condit Dam. How many? Are they reproducing? Are they thriving? We don’t know, but it’s critical to find out. The White Salmon is one of the very few rivers where hatchery fish were not introduced after a dam was removed. This rare opportunity will inform fish recovery in the Pacific Northwest, improve habitat restoration efforts, and could lead to the sustainable harvest of wild fish.
