Reduced to only three small isolated populations, these squirrels were recently designated as endangered by Washington State. They are a critical part of forest ecosystems and uniquely vulnerable in Klickitat County because of parcel fragmentation, timber harvest, and residential sprawl. Immediate action is needed to keep them alive.
