“These Sacred Hills” Film Screening

A powerful collaboration between filmmakers Jacob Bailey, Christopher Ward, and members of the Rock Creek Band of the Yakama Nation.

“These Sacred Hills” is a powerful three-year collaboration between filmmakers Jacob Bailey, Christopher Ward, and members of the Rock Creek Band of the Yakama Nation. The film follows key community members—Elaine Harvey, Bronsco Jim, Jeremy Takala, and others—as they confront a proposed green energy project threatening their sacred mountain, Pushpum. As they fight to protect this vital land, the film captures their struggle to preserve their ancestral rights to fish, hunt, and gather, safeguarding their way of life for future generations. Featuring insights from indigenous affairs reporter Toastie Oaster of High Country News and historian Professor Andrew Fisher of William & Mary College, the film deepens the conversation about environmental justice and the preservation of indigenous sovereignty in the face of modern development.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with members of the Rock Creek Band.

The event is free, but seats must be reserved.
