Volunteer Event – Noxious Weed Pull
We Need Volunteers for a
Family Friendly Work Party!
Sign up below to help remove noxious weeds that are spreading at the BZ Boat Launch Site. We’ll begin the event with a training in safety and tools and plant identification, and then get to work! Rain or shine.
The work will be with hand tools, so no experience is necessary.
We intend this event to be the first of hopefully many in an ongoing stewardship effort and care for this site. If weather conditions remain favorable and the soil is moist enough, we may organize additional work parties later this spring (possibly in May), again in the fall, and in future years.
Noxious weeds we’ll be removing include Herb-Robert, Scotch Broom, Vinca, and Chicory. These non-native plants are deleterious to native plant species. From the launch site, seeds may be carried down the river by hitchhiking rides on clothing, boats, or equipment.
What to bring: Bottle of water, snacks and sturdy closed-toe shoes. You are welcome to bring your own gardening gloves, but we will also supply them.
